Good afternoon Families of CuCPS,
I wanted to provide an update on today's earlier message concerning a social media post. After collaborating with Sheriff Hodges and his team, it was determined that the post was an older one that had been recirculated. The original post came from outside Cumberland's jurisdiction. We take all threats seriously and conduct our due diligence in thoroughly investigating each one to ensure the safety of our school community.
As a result, we will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigated this situation. We also appreciate you taking the time to speak with your children about the importance of 'If you see something or hear something, say something.' Social media is a powerful tool, and it’s essential to have ongoing discussions about how it can influence us all.
Thank you for helping to keep our school and community safe. We are stronger together. I hope you and your family have a good evening.
Dr. Jones

Check out the creativity in action! One of our CHS students, Hunter H., who takes welding at SVCC took his skills to the next level by crafting a Tic Tac Toe game board using a welding bead! This shows how welding is not just about construction—it's an art form too! #WeAreCuCPS

Good Evening,
We were made aware of a social media message that someone made a possible threat to our schools, as well as a couple of other schools in our area. We have been in contact with Sheriff Hodges and made him aware of this posting. We are taking precautions by increasing law enforcement presence on our campus. While we know this is concerning to you, we understand that you have to make decisions about your child attending school tomorrow, Thursday, September 12, 2024. Absences will be excused. Just as a reminder, if you hear or see something, please say something.
Thanks, Dr. Jones

Today’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony was a powerful reminder of the strength and unity of our community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who came together to honor the lives lost and to reflect on the bravery shown on that day.
A special thank you to our first responders, Mr. Stamey, and Cumberland County for helping to make this event possible. We also want to recognize the incredible efforts of our students and the CuCPS team for all their hard work in organizing this meaningful event.
Together, we will never forget.

Congratulations to the CMS Volleyball team for their three set sweep of Buckingham on Tuesday! Dukes on the move...Go Dukes! #WeAreCuCPS

On this day, we honor the lives lost, the courage of first responders, and the resilience of our nation. Though many of our students were not yet born, the events of 9/11 continue to shape the world we live in today. As we reflect on the 23rd anniversary of that tragic day, we stand united as a community, remembering the bravery, unity, and strength that followed. #WeAreCuCPS
