Dear Parents and Guardians, This message is to inform you of a serious matter that came to our attention today. A student at the high school sent out text messages to fellow students encouraging them not to come to school. These messages included a video in which the student appeared to be holding a firearm. Please know that we take this matter with the utmost seriousness. Law enforcement was immediately notified, and appropriate actions have been taken to ensure the safety of all students and staff. At this time, there is no active threat to the school community, and we are cooperating fully with authorities in their investigation. This behavior is deeply concerning and completely unacceptable. Please be assured that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with school policy. I request that all parents and guardians speak with your children about the importance of responsible behavior, both in person and online. Parents must remain vigilant and take time to monitor your child’s social media activity, text messages, and any other digital communications. The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. We greatly appreciate the students who brought these texts to school authorities. If you or your child have any other information related to this incident, or if your child receives any concerning messages in the future, please contact the school administration or local authorities immediately. Remember—see something, say something. We appreciate your continued support in keeping our school a safe and respectful environment for all. Thank you. Chip Jones, Superintendent

We want to shine a light on one of our unsung heroes—field maintenance master Coach T. Gilliam. His tireless dedication behind the scenes keeps every blade of grass perfectly trimmed and every field game-ready for our student-athletes. Thanks to Coach Gilliam’s passion and attention to detail, our Cumberland Dukes have facilities they can truly be proud of. From early mornings to late evenings, rain or shine, he shows what #DukePride is all about. We might not always see the effort, but we feel the impact in every safe, well-kept field and every unforgettable game played on them. Thank you, Coach T. Gilliam, for your commitment to excellence and for all you do for our school and athletes! #WeAreCuCPS
