Cumberland County Public Schools is excited to welcome new staff members joining our team for the 2026-2027 school year. Each day, we will highlight one new staff member. Today's staff member is Elizabeth Morris. Ms. Morris is a first grade teacher at Cumberland Elementary School.

Bus # 5 will be a late bus this afternoon Thursday, August 6,2026. The bus will leave campus at 4:15.

CuCPS welcomed parents and students at a successful Open House on Monday, August 3, 2026. Students learned their schedules, met their teachers, and received supply lists for the upcoming school year.

CuCPS Marching Band camp next week, July 27-31. Remember to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, close toed shoes, and a packed lunch!

Run hard. Push limits. Be your best. Cross Country practice will run from July 27–31, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Athletes should meet at the track and bring water, good shoes, and a great attitude! Emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and perseverance—we run together! Every step makes us stronger. Let's go!

Volleyball JV and Varsity tryouts will begin Monday, July 27 – Tuesday, August 4, from 5–8 PM. We ask that all 8th graders try out for JV.

Middle school conditioning will take place on Monday, July 27 and Wednesday, July 29, from 5–8 PM.

Middle school tryouts will begin August 5 and run through Tuesday, August 11. Tryoiuts will begin immediately after school and end at 6 PM.

Golf tryouts for students entering 9th through 12th grade will be July 27th-29th at 2 p.m. at The Manor located in Farmville, VA. Transportation will leave Cumberland High at 1 p.m. All skills are welcomed. You must have a current sports physical on file.

Attention to parents and students in grades 5–12.

If you would like to request a change to your class schedule, all schedule change requests must be submitted to the school office no later than Tuesday, August 19. Requests received after August 19 will not be considered unless there are extenuating circumstances approved by school administration.

Schedules will be available for students at Open House on August 3.

Please stop by the office to obtain and submit the required schedule change request form before the deadline.
