Good afternoon, As per the Code of VA, all rising 7th graders must have a Tdap and Meningococcal ACWY vaccine to attend school on August 9th. Please forward this documentation to the school nurse ASAP. A nurse from the health department will be at open house 8/3 from 1-4P to administer the vaccines if your students does not have them. Parent must be present. Thank you.

Good evening CMS! Tomorrow, Thursday, April 20th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in front of the Middle School we will be hosting a fun filled SOL Fair! There will be games, activities, and snacks! Good evening CMS! We will be having spirit week this week in support of autism awareness month. The spirit days are : Monday: Comfy Day wear whatever makes you comfortable. Tuesday: Be Unique Day wear your best wacky outfit or wacky socks. Wednesday; Blend In Day wear your best tie dye or rainbow outfit. Thursday: Superheroes for Autism Day wear your best superhero outfit. Friday: Show Your True Colors Day wear your best blue or autism awareness shirt. As always please make sure all outfits are within the school dress code. This Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in front of the Middle School we will be hosting a fun filled SOL Fair! There will be games, activities, and snacks of Nachos and lemonade! We hope to see you all there! We have two upcoming school dances sponsored by the NJHS. The 5th and 6th grade dance will be on Friday, April 21st from 1:30-2:50 during the school day. The cost for a ticket is $3 and will be served during lunches. The 7th and 8th grade dance will be held from 6:00 until 8:30 pm on April 28th. There will be a concession stand where you can purchase snacks and drinks. This is a formal dance and you must abide by the school dress code to attend. A signed and returned permission slip is needed to purchase a ticket. Tickets are $5 and will be sold during lunches. Good evening CMS! 8th Grade parents and guardians, 8th grade students have their Writing SOL this week. The multiple choice portion will be Tuesday, March 7th, and the essay portion will be on Wednesday, March 8th. Friendly reminder that Thursday, March 9th is a noon dismissal day for students, and there is no school for students on Friday, March 10th. There will be no After-School tutoring on Thursday’s noon dismissal day. Lastly, we have new dismissal procedures at CMS. Dismissal can be a hectic time for a school building. This is why we ask that moving forward if you need to check your child out for the day, please pick up your child prior to 2:45pm. Requests taken after 2:45 will require families to wait until after buses have been loaded and departed from the complex. This will allow all our students to exit the building and get to their buses and parent rides safely. We thank you for your help in this matter and appreciate all you do for your child and their education. Remember, at CMS, we are respectful, responsible, and purposeful. Good evening CMS! We have the following events this week: The CMS Lady Dukes volleyball team has a home game on Tuesday, October 18th in the high school gymnasium starting at 4:30pm. Report cards will go home with students on Wednesday, October 19th. Cumberland Elementary and Middle School will be hosting a joint Fall Festival for students and families on Thursday, October 20th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm. The family event is an outdoor walk-through event located out front of the Elementary School. We hope to see you there. Friendly reminder, Cumberland County Schools’ nurses are no longer allowed to give over the counter medicine to students. If you wish for your child to have medicine at school, please bring in an unopened case of the medicine with your child’s first and last name on it, to the middle school office.
