As always, thank you for your support.

Dear CHS Family,
Please be advised that due to a professional development activity scheduled for our educators on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, CHS will suspend after-school tutoring on that day. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. Thank you.
Welcome back, Dukes! Here is our sports schedule for this week. Please come out and support our athletes. Go Dukes!

Our traditional Senior Bonfire was a success! We appreciate our students' hard work and the dedication of our teachers who participated in the festivities. Go, Dukes!

Last week, Ms. Morgan and Mr. Shidell accompanied our students on an educational field trip to Luray Caverns. It is evident that they all had an enriching and enjoyable experience.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the CHS athletes for their commendable performance during the fall season. On Thursday, we honored their accomplishments at the Sports Banquet. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all parents and coaches for their unwavering dedication and support.

Happy Friday, CHS Family.
As we conclude our Homecoming week, it is essential to highlight the notable events that took place during this festive occasion. We commenced the celebrations with a parade, which was followed by a pep rally honoring our student-athletes, marching band, and color guard. We're excited to remind everyone that our Powder Puff game is happening tonight, and the Homecoming dance is just around the corner tomorrow!
Furthermore, we would like to extend our congratulations to Emily Eroh, a student at Cumberland High School, for her recent achievement at the Goethe Institute in Washington, D.C. Emily undertook the Goethe-Zertifikat A2 Exam in German. This examination provides an internationally recognized certificate that indicates proficiency as an advanced German learner, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. In order to attain this certification, a student must achieve a minimum score of 60% across all categories: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Remarkably, Emily scored above 90% in each category, an accomplishment that is exceptional among high school students. This significant achievement represents a crucial step toward further proficiency examinations, which may facilitate certification for teaching the language, working as a translator, or pursuing various government positions, as well as opportunities for work or study in Germany.
We extend our sincere congratulations to Emily Eroh on this remarkable milestone. As always, thank you all for your wonderful support of our Dukes!

This past week at CHS was notably eventful. Our students and staff actively participated in the Fall Festival, an initiative that allowed students to earn community service hours. Additionally, we successfully conducted our inaugural Senior Etiquette Dinner, which provided an excellent opportunity for our seniors and community members to engage in social interactions within a formal dining setting. We extend our sincere gratitude to all volunteers and Chef Lee for their invaluable contributions to this event.
Looking ahead, our subsequent Senior Etiquette Dinners are scheduled for November 13 and 14. Furthermore, we hosted our Homecoming Game last evening. Our students and staff demonstrated admirable adaptability to last-minute changes, as we did not compete against the originally scheduled team. Instead, they participated in an enjoyable flag football game, which proved to be a delightful experience for all involved.
We wish to express our appreciation to the parents and family members who attended to support our students. As always, we take pride in our Dukes!

Here is our weekly sports schedule. Please come out and cheer on our Dukes.
