Good afternoon families of Cumberland County Public Schools. We are anticipating nice weather for experiencing Monday's (tomorrow) solar eclipse between 2:00 P.M. and 4:30 P.M. Teachers will present guidance on solar eclipse safety and will distribute solar glasses to students. We ask that parents take some time to discuss solar eclipse safety precautions with their children before they come to school on Monday. These precautions include avoiding looking directly at the sun, not using camera phones without a special filter to capture the solar eclipse, and wearing proper eye protection. We anticipate the peak of the solar eclipse to occur around 3:17 pm in the Cumberland area. Parents are reminded that they may choose to pick up their child early if they want to experience the solar eclipse as a family. We also encourage parents whose children will be riding a bus to have them wear their protective solar glasses and to be at the bus stop when they arrive in the afternoon. We hope all of our families are enjoying spring break, and we look forward to the return of students tomorrow, Monday, April 8th. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s school.
