Good afternoon families of Cumberland County Public Schools. This is an important message regarding Monday, April 8, 2024. We are anticipating nice weather for experiencing the solar eclipse between 2:00 P.M. and 4:30 P.M. on Monday afternoon. Teachers will present guidance on solar eclipse safety and will distribute solar glasses to students. We ask that parents take some time to discuss solar eclipse safety precautions with their children before they come to school on Monday. These precautions include avoiding looking directly at the sun, not using camera phones without a special filter to capture the solar eclipse, and wearing proper eye protection. We anticipate the peak of the solar eclipse to occur around bus dismissal time. Parents are reminded that they may choose to pick up their child early if they want to experience the solar eclipse as a family. We also encourage parents whose children will be riding a bus to have them wear their protective solar glasses and to be at the bus stop when they arrive in the afternoon. We hope all of our families are enjoying spring break, and we look forward to the return of students on Monday. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s school.

Things are blooming this spring at CuCPS! We are excited to welcome everyone back on Monday and everyday for the homestretch of the 2023-2024 School Year. This begins a busy time of the year...competitions, performances, games, ceremonies, presentations, and more! Go Dukes...see you soon. #WeAreCuCPS
