We have been monitoring numerous data points regarding COVID-19. The most recent statistics show an increase in the number of cases which includes children. The surrounding area has increased numbers in facilities where many of our families and community members are employed. To assist with the mitigation of community spread, Cumberland County Public Schools will now open remotely on August 10, 2020, for all students during the first nine weeks which is scheduled to end on October 13, 2020. We will continue to evaluate the status of COVID-19 during this time to determine if in-person learning will resume after the first nine weeks.
While this may create additional hardships for families, safety for all must be the top priority. With students being our top priority, we must create a safe environment for them to learn, as well as for our staff, and the community . You will be receiving updated guidance from school administration regarding the structure of remote learning. During this time, students will still have continued access to meals. I encourage each family to take advantage of the school meals. We will be updating our Frequently Asked Questions section on our webpage.
