The Cumberland Lady Dukes led by seniors, Nalonda H. and Lakyra B. won the 2023 James River District Track & Field Championship held at Nottoway High School on Wednesday, May 17th. Lakyra B. was named the female runner of the year, won 100 meter hurdles, second in 200 and 400 meters. Her multi-talented teammate Nalonda H. , won events pole vault, long jump, discus, and shot put, was named female field athlete of year. Cumberland athletic director / coach was named the coach of the year. The Lady Dukes start regional championships Wednesday, May 24th at Sussex Central High School.
