Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, CuCPS school buildings and offices are closed. Luckily, student breakfast and lunch distribution/delivery and learning continue. If you need to contact administration, teachers, or a staff member, the best way is through email. Email addresses can be found on our CuCPS webpage. If this is not possible, you can call 804-492-4212 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on weekdays. This number will be answered by Mrs. Sandra Raymond remotely. She will get your messages to the correct people. Thank you for being patient, flexible, and understanding with us.

Good Morning, CuCPS Family. There are a lot of unknowns regarding how CuCPS will proceed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Although our school buildings are closed, student learning is to continue. We will learn more from the Virginia Department of Education today on the expectations on how to proceed. Please be patient as we learn the expectations and then plan and prepare for remote learning. We hope to have answers for you by Friday and develop a Frequently Asked Questions document for our staff, families, and the community as a reference. However, I can tell you now that we are committed to providing breakfast and lunch meals to our students for the remainder of the school year and will still hold prom and graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 when it is safe to do so. My thoughts and prayers go out to each student, family, and staff member as we navigate through this time. We are here for you. If you need something, please reach out to me at 492-4212 or through email at agriffin@cucps.k12.va.us.

Update
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Northam has decided to close all public and private schools until the end of the school year. We are promised that the Virginia Department of Education will provide guidance to all divisions in our efforts to provide continuity of instruction and food services during this time. Other areas on which we are to be given prompt guidance include: · Graduation Requirements · Awarding Standard Credit and Verified Credit (in the absence of SOL testing) · Closing the instructional gaps created by the loss of instruction. As these and many more questions are answered in the next few days, weeks, and months to come, I will make every effort to maintain communication with all our stakeholders. I understand these are uncertain times for us all. The decisions being made are unprecedented and there is no script to follow. However, I have no doubt we will get through this together, and we will come through this on the other side stronger, and more prepared to take on any future challenges. Be on the lookout for further information coming. In the meantime — stay safe, stay healthy, and stay home.

Storytime
We are establishing a food delivery process for families that cannot get to one of the three distribution sites. We prefer participation in the drive-thru process at one of the distribution sites (Randolph Fire Department, front of CMS, and Cartersville Rescue Squad building) from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon; however, we do understand that some families or childcare providers are unable to get to the sites. If you are unable to get to a distribution site, please call your child’s school at 492-4212 between the hours of 2:00-3:00 p.m. and request a delivery for the next day. We will arrange meal delivery. Again, we prefer distribution through the drive-thru process; however, we do understand that this is not possible for all families. It is our hope to provide meals for every student at Cumberland County Public Schools and we encourage each family to participate.

Governor Northam has just ordered all schools to be closed for a minimum of two weeks. CuCPS will be closed from March 16, 2020, to March 27, 2020. We will keep in touch with families through our alert system, webpage, and social media throughout this time period in regards to instructional and food services for our students. I encourage everyone to stay home and practice germ prevention. You can find resources from the CDC on our website. Everyone be safe and we will miss you. http://cumberlandva.apptegy.us/o/cucps/page/health-update--2
