We expect that the school closure will be expanded. We are waiting on further information and planning to determine the length of the expanded school closure.
Learning for Home:
Learning Packets have been mailed home and are available on our website at https://www.cucps.k12.va.us/o/CUCPS/page/health-update--2 . These learning packets are for a continuity of learning and are not graded. They are not meant to make up for full days of school. More information will be coming later this week with expectations for learning from home during an extended closure beyond March 27, 2020.
Again, thank you for everyone's understanding, patience, and flexibility. We are doing the best we know how with the information and resources we have. Our first priority has been to take care of our children’s basic needs.

Backpacks of Love food bags will be distributed with breakfast and lunch meals tomorrow, Friday, March 20, 2020. We appreciate our partnership with Backpacks of Love!
On Monday, books will be distributed with breakfast and lunch meals. We appreciate the Virginia Children's Book Festival for donating books for our children!

Mark Your Calendars: Beginning Monday, March 23rd --Join us each weekday at 2:00 p.m. for CuCPS Storytime! Through the CuCPS Facebook page or CuCPS website, hear your CuCPS teachers and staff read their favorite children's books. #iamcucps

We are establishing a food delivery process for families that cannot get to one of the three distribution sites. We prefer participation in the drive-thru process at one of the distribution sites (Randolph Fire Department, front of CMS, and Cartersville Rescue Squad building) from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon; however, we do understand that some families or childcare providers are unable to get to the sites. If you are unable to get to a distribution site, please call your child’s school at 492-4212 between the hours of 2:00-3:00 p.m. and request a delivery for the next day. We will arrange meal delivery.
Again, we prefer distribution through the drive-thru process; however, we do understand that this is not possible for all families. It is our hope to provide meals for every student at Cumberland County Public Schools and we encourage each family to participate.

Distribution will be done in a drive-thru manner. You will not need to get out of your car. We will bring the bagged meals to you. We ask that you keep the drive-thru lines moving.
Learning packets will be mailed home on Wednesday. Please be on the lookout for your child’s packet. Your child’s Report Card will be included in the packet.
As information evolves, plans may change. Thank you for being understanding, patient, and flexible. Stay safe and healthy. Thank you.
