December 5, 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Cumberland High School will begin the administration of the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments on Monday, December 9, 2025, and will conclude on Thursday, December 18, 2025. These assessments are essential for evaluating students’ mastery of key academic skills across core subjects, including English, mathematics, science, and history, and play a significant role in determining students’ progress toward graduation requirements.
To ensure students are adequately prepared, our educators have been conducting review sessions both during school hours and after school in anticipation of the testing period. Families can provide valuable support by encouraging consistent study habits, ensuring that students receive sufficient rest, and promoting timely arrival on testing days. It is important to remind students to bring a fully charged Chromebook, as the SOL assessments will be conducted online. Breakfast will be available each morning prior to the start of testing.
The testing schedule is as follows:
December 9, 2025: History
December 10, 2025: Reading and Science
December 11, 2025: Mathematics
December 12, 2025: Make-up Assessments
December 16-18, 2025: Expedited Retakes
Please ensure that your student attends each scheduled assessment on time. In the event that your child is absent on a testing day, make-up sessions will be arranged as permitted by the testing calendar.
We appreciate your continued support as we work together to facilitate the success of each student.
Sincerely,
Dr. Elif Kalemdaroglu-Wheeler
Principal
