Members of Sharon Baptist Church donates school supplies

For local students, the start of a new academic year means new teachers, fresh schedules, and the excitement of seeing old friends. For hundreds of families in the district, it also means a substantial financial burden. To help lighten that load, members of Sharon Baptist Church delivered boxes of classroom supplies to Cumberland County Public Schools. Supplies included bookbags, pencils, markers, notebook paper, composition books, and other assorted items.

Sharon Baptist Church members brought the supplies to the School Board Office so supplies could be sent to the individual schools. The congregation of Sharon Baptist Church has made this an annual tradition with the goal of providing students with the essential tools required for classroom success.

Assistant Superintendent Elizabeth Jamerson, who accepted the supplies on behalf of the school division, stated: “The cost of standard school supplies has risen steadily, making the annual donations vital for many district families. Sharon Baptist Church has been providing these supplies for many years. We greatly appreciate their continued support. When community partners step up like this, it directly impacts the learning environment.”
