CuCPS Holds Hybrid Summer School

Cumberland County Public Schools will hold summer school from June 15, 2020, through July 17, 2020.  Cumberland Elementary and Middle Schools will focus on providing engaging activities that foster the attainment of core learning standards, with a special interest in improving math and reading skills. Cumberland High School will focus on remediation, credit recovery, and enrichment activities.

Cumberland Elementary School will deliver instruction in a variety of formats, including virtual, mailed packets, and possible “outside” instruction. Teachers will be using a team approach, collaboratively developing video lessons, designing projects or packets, and hosting online learning.  Whenever possible, teachers will provide one-to-one instruction outside.

Cumberland Middle School will hold summer school through multiple formats, including virtual and through mailed packets. Teachers will be available for office hours through email.

Cumberland High School will also use multiple formats for summer school, including virtual instruction and mailed learning packets. For students with Internet access, teachers will utilize E2020/Edgenuity or Virtual Virginia. For students without Internet access, teachers will mail students activities and/or assignments from courses that students struggled with or failed during the year. Teachers will individualize online instruction to meet student needs and to allow for course recovery.
