Good evening CMS! We are excited to announce that summer work packets and summer reading will be mailed out on Thursday, June 11th. These packets are to provide you additional learning activities to complete at home over the summer. Summer school will be conducted through distance learning and will begin Monday, June 15th and end on Thursday, July 16th. Summer school will be held Monday through Thursday. There will be no summer school the week of June 29th. Students that are being asked to participate in summer school will be contacted by their teacher. If your student is not contacted but you would like for them to participate in online instruction, please contact CMS administration.

Good Evening Cumberland Middle School. I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy. We miss you very much and hope to see you soon. Beginning last week, teachers have been attempting to call students to check on them and to explain our next two weeks of distance learning. Please check our website on how individual teachers are continuing distance learning. New material and individual teacher hours will be posted on our website by Monday, April 6th. Virtual office hours for teachers are designated for teachers to be available to assist students as necessary. Please feel free to email teachers or call the school from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Ms. Raymond will take your message and we will have teachers contact you. Cumberland County Public Schools will be recognizing Spring Break from April 13th - April 17th. Material will be posted on April 6th, however please enjoy Spring Break to the extent that you can. Good evening, This is a message from Cumberland Middle School. • March 10th is the end of the 3rd 9 weeks. • Report cards will be going home on Tuesday, March 17th. • There will be no school for students on Friday, March 20th. It is a professional work day for staff. • We will be holding a Pennies for Patients fundraiser from March 23-April 10 to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Our goal at CMS is to raise $750. Our grade level winner will earn an ice cream party. • March 24th and 25th will be the 8th grade Writing SOL. • NJHS is holding a 7th and 8th grade Mardi Gras Masquerade dance on Friday, March 27th, 2020. We will start selling tickets on March 2nd in the cafetorium during lunch. The tickets are $5.00 to attend. The dance will be held from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. We hope to see everyone there in their finest attire! • The YMCA will have after-school child care at Cumberland Elementary school, for children 5 to 12 years old. Interested parents can pick up a flyer and registration form in the middle school office. • Registration is now open for Cumberland Rec Baseball, T-Ball, and Softball. For more information, please contact Cumberland Recreation at 804-492-9345 OR recreation@cumberlandcounty.virginia.gov • Friendly reminder to students and parents: middle school students are not allowed to stay after school to wait for athletic events or other school events. • Middle School Baseball will begin Monday, February 24th. Athletes are to meet in the cafeteria. All athletes must have a physical and concussion form on file to attend. • On February 26th from 6 to 8 pm in the CHS Gym, CHS will be hosting an Electives Fair. The fair will include informational display tables for every CTE and elective subject. Students in grades 5-12 and their parents will be invited to attend. This will give students in grades 5-7 an opportunity to become familiar with the course offerings of the high school.
