Each month during the monthly meeting, the Cumberland School Board recognizes the Students of the Month for each school. The following students were recognized at the May School Board meeting, held on Thursday, May 2, 2019:
- Eric Johnson, kindergarten student at Cumberland Elementary School, son of Ms. Jewel Jasper of Cumberland.
- Celeste Mitchell, eighth grader at Cumberland Middle School, daughter of Chris Manning and Baedra Talbert of Cumberland.
- Nadia Elasha, twelfth grader at Cumberland High School, daughter of Calvin and Rita Mayberry of Cumberland.
The 2019 Valedictorian and the Salutatorian for the Senior Class were also recognized. Abigail Heath, the CHS Class Valedictorian, is a native of Cumberland County and the daughter of Mr. Bobby Heath and Ms. Mary Sweeney. During her years as a Cumberland Duke, she has been a member of the Student Government Association, the Junior Varsity Volleyball Team, the Art Club, the National Honor Society, and Project Discovery. Upon graduation from CHS, Ms. Heath will be attending Virginia Commonwealth University and majoring in business. She has a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.6 and has been enrolled in multiple Dual Enrollment and Honors courses. She graduated with an Associate degree from SVCC on May 11, 2019.
The 2019 Salutatorian for the Senior Class is Autumn Holman. She is a native of Cumberland County and the daughter of Faye Honeybein and Robert Holman. During her years at CHS, Ms. Holman has been a member of Project Discovery, the National Honor Society, the Future Farmers of America, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Upon graduation from CHS, Ms. Holman will be attending the College of William and Mary and majoring in linguistics. She has a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.571 and has been enrolled in numerous Dual Enrollment and Honors courses. She graduated with an Associate degree from SVCC on May 11, 2019.

Salutatorian Autumn Holman and Valedictorian Abigail Heath were recognized at the May meeting of the Cumberland School Board.
