Breakfast in the classroom

Starting last school year, Cumberland schools started serving breakfast in the classroom to the Elementary and Middle students, at the High school, the students were offered a grab and go breakfast.  After working through a few growing pains, the program turned out to be extremely successful. Cumberland’s breakfast participation growth was the 6th highest in the state, up by 14.3%, in fact, more breakfast than lunches, were served at the elementary school.  At Cumberland schools, 87.6 % of all “free and Reduced” students participate in breakfast and lunch, which ranks 2nd in the state.

In school year 2015-16 the cafeteria served 135,351 breakfasts, and 160,616 lunches. So please keep encouraging your children to eat breakfast, it is the most important meal of the day.
