Cumberland Middle School students who attended the STEAM Health Science Lab Camp were recognized at the August 13, 2018, meeting of the Cumberland School Board. The STEAM (which stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) Camp was a public-private partnership that provided students with the opportunity for summer enrichment. The Camp, which was held from July 9-27, 2018, targeted rising 6th grade students from Cumberland, Nottoway, Mecklenburg, and Prince Edward. Students engaged in hands-on project-based learning in various areas related to health, including anatomy, ecology, nutrition, physiology, and the environment. Students attending from Cumberland Middle School included Austin Gills, Cadence Hatcher, Jakayla Minter, Steven Mullins, Ashton Rice, Jaden Rice, and Natalie Sullivan.
