Cumberland County Public Schools will host a reception on Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 6:00-7:00 P.M., in the Cumberland Middle School Cafetorium, to allow parents and members of the community to meet the new Cumberland Middle School (CMS) administrators.
Mr. Michael Camden, a former teacher at Cumberland Elementary School (CMS), is the new CMS principal. He came to the division from Hopewell City Public Schools, where he was the Supervisor of Alternative Programming and District Intervention. He has also served as an assistant principal and a principal for Mecklenburg County Public Schools. He was named Cumberland County Public Schools (CUCPS) Division Teacher of the Year in 2010. In addition, he has coached basketball and soccer. Mr. Camden has a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Longwood University and a Master of Supervision and Leadership from Liberty University.
Mrs. Melissa Reese is the new CMS Assistant Principal. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a Master of Science degree in Administration and Supervision from Longwood University. Formerly, she was serving as the Assistant Principal in Mecklenburg County Public Schools, where she was instrumental in increasing academic achievement. Prior to becoming an administrator, she was a teacher for five years, teaching history at Park View Middle School and Bluestone High School, where she was selected as Teacher of the Year. She has been active in implementing a school-wide positive behavior discipline system at Park View Middle School and served as the PBA Liaison for Mecklenburg County Public Schools.
